Daisuke is the incarnation of a sparrow. He is the kami (divine being) of a shrine originally dedicated to agriculture, which has recently become more general (nature and animals) due to the decline in farming.

He has the ability to bloom plants and control animals, although this drains much of his energy. Also, once being a sparrow himself, he can speak to any member of the animal population. He is quite frail for a kami and is almost always seen with a large blanket draped over his shoulders. When he's ill, the surrounding nature wilts and dries up. He hardly ever raises his voice.

Akane is his shinshi, meaning she takes care of him and must obey his every command. He treats her kindly and respectfully.
